Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community offered condolences for the star in the following the terrible crash.
