Texas Attorney General Paxton is filing a lawsuit against the manufacturers of acetaminophen, claiming the corporations hid potential risks that the drug presented to pediatric neurological development.

The lawsuit follows thirty days after Donald Trump publicized an unsubstantiated connection between taking Tylenol - referred to as acetaminophen - throughout gestation and autism spectrum disorder in children.

The attorney general is suing the pharmaceutical giant, which once produced the medication, the sole analgesic suggested for women during pregnancy, and Kenvue, which now manufacturers it.

In a official comment, he stated they "deceived the public by profiting off of suffering and promoting medication ignoring the dangers."

The manufacturer states there is no credible evidence linking Tylenol to autism spectrum disorder.

"These manufacturers deceived for years, intentionally threatening numerous people to increase profits," the attorney general, a Republican, declared.

Kenvue stated officially that it was "seriously troubled by the spread of false claims on the safety of paracetamol and the likely effects that could have on the health of women and children in America."

On its official site, the company also mentioned it had "consistently assessed the applicable studies and there is insufficient valid information that indicates a proven link between taking acetaminophen and autism."

Groups speaking for medical professionals and medical practitioners share this view.

The leading OB-GYN organization has said paracetamol - the main ingredient in acetaminophen - is one of the few options for expectant mothers to manage pain and elevated temperature, which can create significant medical dangers if ignored.

"In over twenty years of research on the utilization of acetaminophen in pregnancy, zero credible investigations has conclusively proven that the use of paracetamol in any stage of pregnancy leads to neurodevelopmental disorders in children," the organization commented.

This legal action mentions current declarations from the Trump administration in arguing the drug is potentially dangerous.

Recently, Trump generated worry from public health officials when he told pregnant women to "fight like hell" not to use acetaminophen when sick.

The US Food and Drug Administration then released a statement that physicians should think about restricting the consumption of acetaminophen, while also stating that "a direct connection" between the medication and autism in young ones has remains unverified.

The Health Department head RFK Jr, who supervises the FDA, had vowed in April to initiate "extensive scientific investigation" that would establish the source of autism spectrum disorder in a short period.

But authorities cautioned that finding a single cause of autism - considered by experts to be the outcome of a complex mix of inherited and external influences - would not be simple.

Autism is a form of lifelong neurodivergence and condition that affects how persons encounter and interact with the environment, and is identified using doctors' observations.

In his court filing, the attorney general - aligned with the former president who is campaigning for federal office - asserts Kenvue and Johnson & Johnson "intentionally overlooked and attempted to silence the evidence" around acetaminophen and autism.

This legal action aims to force the companies "remove any promotional materials" that states Tylenol is secure for expectant mothers.

The Texas lawsuit echoes the concerns of a assembly of mothers and fathers of minors with autism and ADHD who took legal action against the manufacturers of acetaminophen in recently.

The court rejected the legal action, saying research from the plaintiffs' authorities was inconclusive.
